Day by day Duomo

Rainy Saturday, Sunny Monday

Spring "snow"

All of the white stuff is some sort of seed. It was floating around the whole city.

Sant Ambrogio

Oldest church in Milan, started by Saint Ambrogio. His skeleton is still on view under the altar.

San Bernardino alle Ossa

I was told, "Go in there to see something interesting, but go quickly." I do love chapels decorated with human skulls.

Navigli

Stones for the Duomo were brought in on this canal. Women used to do their washing in this canal also.

Online Banking

This gadget is a cardreader from my bank. I insert my Debit card and put in my pin and it generates a code for me to use in online transactions and transfers.

Powis Castle

The Yew trees on the terrace are 300-year-old behemoths.

Who loves ewe, babe?

A highlight of the trip was seeing all the sheep. It was lambing season so there were tons of babies around. They form little gangs and roam around the pasture together, jumping and playing and generally being adorable.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

pronunciation
The name means: St. Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near the rapid whirlpool and the church of St. Tysilio with a red cave (that is now a tourist trap).

Hinxton

I work in the tiny hamlet of Hinxton. Here is the quaint town sign. The middle part is Hinxton Hall, the estate taken over by the Wellcome Trust. I think there is a double helix in the bottom left.

UK lab fashion Spring 2012

Light blue double-breasted labcoats are "in". I like them better than the white ones we wore in the US because they have snaps instead of buttons so I can pull them off as if I'm doing a strip-tease.

A little yellow cup, a little yellow frill

There are daffodils everywhere! I came upon these ones in Parker's Pieces.
